Spring Time!

Isn't it nice how Spring always follows Winter? I don't know about you, but I needed this change more than a lot of previous years.

2025 was a big year for me. A lot of things opened up in my life that I had no expectations for. It is so often the way that when you stop chasing the things they suddenly just arrive!

  • New creative partners
  • A new workspace and a storefront space for inviting community and creativity to thrive
  • Opportunities to join group shows
  • New personal relationships and friendships
  • Clarity on my creative direction
  • Opportunities to partner with wonderful friends on so many projects

Things really came to a crescendo in December and January and I felt like the whole world was so beautiful and I could make every problematic corner ok again with a smile and a little bit of paint! But unfortunately, life has downs as well as ups and I kind of fell into a hard place in February and March. When you are deep in those times it feels like the hole is getting deeper faster than you can climb out. But now, as April approaches I am reminded that all things find their endings. Even the darkest nights are followed by the sunrise. (Just to wrap up that paragraph with the corniest possible line!)

Things at Piques and Valleys are really thriving. We are planning a full schedule of activities through the Spring and into the Summer (and even a couple nuggets already in the works for Fall)

I am continuing to develop my Faces series into a full exhibition and I am working on figuring out how to best present this to galleries for consideration.

My piece from the Bookends Show in February has opened up a whole new creative direction that I am currently referring to as "Wood Quilting" (See photos for reference.)

Fun right??? I am also available for freelance illustration work and I need to figure out how to better make this known to people who are looking for that sort of thing. (If you have tips or connections please let me know!)

My friends are wonderful. Dundas is such a lovely town to work in. The Hamilton artistic community is so welcoming and affirming. The weather is warming!!! I just got a haircut and I feel fresh and ready for the next adventure. My shoulders are still sometimes tense from the hard moments recently but the flowers always return.
