October Updates - New Studio Space and Patreon!

Hello everyone! I have a couple of quick updates to share as the business of this Autumn season starts accelerate. Firstly, I want to give you a quick update on how things are going with my new studio space as part of the Glenhyrst Artist Incubator program.

The view out of my window at the cottage studio space overlooking the Glenhyrst grounds.

I have been moved in for a couple of weeks now and things are starting to take shape. It is so very helpful for me to finally have a dedicated art creating space where I am able to effectively limit distractions and spend focused time on figuring out what I want my art to become. I brought over a few unfinished pieces that I was having quite a bit of trouble bringing to a final state and they are seeing so much progress!

A few unfinished pieces from my ongoing “Musicians” series.

There will be so much more to share about the program as the next few months unfold – which brings me to part two of this update…

After years of indecision I have finally opened a Patreon page where interested folks can support me as an artist and follow along with more constant and expanded updates (and receive little goodies from time to time!)

Patreon updates will include sneak peaks at paintings I am working on at any given time as well as stories and commentary on people and things that are and have inspired me as an artist. Right now there is only one membership tier available, but in the near future I will be adding additional tiers of support that will include little nuggets such as stickers, small original drawings, prints, and some other surprises along the way. Patreon is a month to month subscription and you are fully free to start or stop your journey with me at any time.

I would be overjoyed if you would join me and also spread the word to others you know who may be interested in joining the fun!

Lastly, if there are any particular goodies you would like to see offered as part of the patreon goodness please leave a comment or send me a message!

I think that is all for now. Thank you so much for reading and I can’t wait to share more with you next time!

Grand River Arts Festival

So cool seeing everyone this weekend!

Just a quick note to mark how encouraging it was to see everyone at Glenhyrst! I had a blast curled up behind my table working on little paintings between visits from festival attendees.

I pulled down my online shop but will be restoring things a bit this week. Along with making sure my artwork is presented in a sensible way… right now there is little more than a pile of images with zero context or reason.

Marketing and public presentation are not my strongest abilities.

But anyway.. I had fun and I hope you did too <3

Postcard Pack #1

Whimsical, fun, colourful… my goal is to make you smile!

The other day I was sitting at home working on some drawings and having trouble concentrating. I have been overwhelmed by the amazing response to the T-shirts that are now available to purchase and wanted to provide another affordable option to share some of my favourite images with you all.

So I got in touch with my friends at Moffitt Print Craft to see what we could do to get a few postcards printed. They totally understood what I was looking for and just like that there are 4-packs of quirky, illustrated postcards on their way to Whatever You Art world headquarters as I write this!

I am pretty excited about these. I have wished and dreamed about creating these types of goodies for so so long and it is a trip and a half to finally be making it happen.

I think the postcards will be a recurring feature. Every few months I will release a pack of four new illustrations. The first pack is full of colourful, absurdist sketches that I have drawn over the course of the past few years. When I create I am often looking to alter the world around me and inject whimsy and wonder into it all. These four designs do just that.

The backs are your standard postcard with space for writing a short note and spots for the mailing address and stamp.

I hope you love them and find fun ways to share these postcards with your friendliest friends.

T-Shirts Have Arrived!

I HAVE BEEN DRAWING THIS LITTLE GUY FOR SO SO LONG…

…scribbled in the margins of old notebooks, accompanying signatures on birthday cards and notes to loved ones, on my clothes and hands while distracted during meetings… and now he is finally appearing on a t-shirt design!

The fine folks at Brantford Apparel (whom I have worked with in the past on a couple of special feature community project shirt designs) helped me to bring this little guy to life in blue ink on black fabric. I am super excited to share it with you!

Thank you to those of you who have already ordered your shirts. The quantities are limited for this first run so don’t hesitate to place your order and please share widely with your friends and fam!

I have plans for more shirt designs in the upcoming months.

Stay tuned for art prints and more as well!
